Long term acute care and rehabilitation
A typical hospital is not designed
to handle the demands of patients requiring long term
acute care. But North Valley Hospital has a series of
specialized services and programs focused on improving
the lives and medical conditions of patients who require
additional (or extensive) acute care for their recovery
or who are not yet ready to be transferred to a non-hospital
environment.
Upon transfer to North Valley Hospital, a physician will develop a personalized care plan and direct an intra-disciplinary team to immediately deliver the highest level of medical care.
North Valley Hospital acute care services
include:
- Stroke or traumatic brain injury rehabilitation
- Medically complex
- Pulmonary/ventilator
- Wound care
- Medical with rehabilitation
- Specialized services including oncology
- Cardiac and multi-system complication
- 24-hour respiratory care including
ventilator management
- Dialysis

and language therapy

Specialty Programs
Acute Brain Injury Program
People who experience a brain
injury often have a variety of physical and cognitive
impairments, such as spasticity, paralysis and contractures.
When these impairments are not properly treated, the
patient may not achieve optimal functioning and recovery.
The Acute Brain Injury Program provides
specialized care to patients with functional deficits
resulting from a traumatic or acquired brain injury.
Our multi-disciplinary team collaborates with the family
to plan treatment and meet the individual needs of the
patient.
Medically Complex Program
Patients who are admitted to the Medically Complex Program
have recently lost some of their ability to function
normally and/or care for themselves. This may also be
compounded by medical complications that prolong the
recuperation period. Criteria for admission are determined
by the complexity of an individual's needs.
